Michael Ferris' drawings are visually intense and over the top. They are drawn with a bravado technique that is sorely lacking in much of today’s contemporary art. Ferris mostly fills his drawings up…. literally with image after image, crowding them to work for and against each other for maximum complexity. Reading this work is not easy. Moving from one image to the next, one is overwhelmed with focused ideas of ambivalence over our society and culture, regarding global supremacy and empire. Life and culture flourish…. but at what cost to civilization as a whole? No conclusion is provided as Ferris forces one to consider the many possibilities thrust upon our humanity.
