From the art photographs by Laurie Simmons to the torture porn surrogate in the SAW films, ventriloquist dummies mean different things to different people. The repel/attract reactions come easily, as we regress quickly to our childhood. Frightening some and fascinating others, Hamilton inserts life into this literal dummy parade, through his straightforward and skilled approach in the rendering of these vents (the vernacular term). Gene Hamilton is an artist, actor, and ventriloquist, and pooled these three disciplines to come up with this fascinating and slightly unnerving show.
