Rich Lehl

Seattle surrealist Rich Lehl continues his exploration of the human condition. Entitled Cattywampus, which means askew or crooked, reflects the disarray and disorder of daily life.

This series illustrates a variety of narratives dealing with, among other things, the loss of self, consumptionism, and the paranormal. Many of these images were inspired by real events.

(Stealing Rich, an independent film starring the artist, will show at the Music Box Theater on Sunday afternoon May 16 at 1:45 PM sharp…. this event is free but an rsvp to the gallery is needed) more below...

When a film crew arrives to make a documentary about his life and work, Seattle surrealist artist Rich Lehl believes he's finally hit The Big Time. Badgered and belittled by a beautiful sexy interviewer, double-crossed by a two-timing private eye, sabotaged by a drug-addled wife with a sinister agenda, tormented by a sadistic agent from the Office of Artistic Governance, stalked by a deranged superhuman killer, and traumatized by a mysterious stranger who arrives in the dead of the night to perform a most bizarre medical ritual, Rich's world is fast spiraling into a surrealist nightmare in which even death is only a beginning.
