Traditional children's imagery can have a darker and stranger side. Riley's Messed-Up Beatrix Potter pages distort what we remember from this classic. He pain-stakingly adds to Tom Kitten and Jeremiah Puddle Duck by drawing with black ball-point pen, on various pages, never planning the end result. These drawings are produced in one sitting, and are inserted into a "found" frame. The show is rounded out with alterations of other images from books, primarily of portraiture and pin-up girls. This is Riley's second solo outing with Aron Packer Gallery.
