Iris Adler (Gallery Two)

Iris Adler's art is beyond description. Using tales as a starting point, Adler creates table-top dioramas, made from unusual materials: dead animals-- mice, bird parts, fur, and bones ( these are the most prominent). Other materials are more traditional: colored resins and plastics-- doll parts, various fake grasses and model trees, etc.. These works stand on their own as static sculpture. Adler takes them to the next level by making certain sculptural aspects kinetic and inserting simple sound and light effects. This expands each piece exponentially, so to speak. To see two inch humans "riding" dead mice is a sight, but when the mice start to buck like tiny broncos . . . imagine the weird fun.
